Annual End of Year Dinner

The Applied Behavior Center of Kuwait ABC recently held it’s annual end of year dinner at the C-club.
The event featured a presentation by the Co- founder of ABC, Dr. Abdullah Al Ali showcasing the center’s achievements for 2016 ,  followed by  an award ceremony to reward the ABC team for their strengths and achievements.”I am proud to say that 2016 has been a great year for ABC. In line with our mission and our vision for Kuwait,  our greatest  achievement to end 2016 is  the integration of 10 children into mainstream education  in the past 2 years and a further 14 students into special education schooling without assistance. We look forward to integrate more children into society in 2017, with hopes to work closely with the  Kuwaiti government  to increase the number of children we assist. I would like to thank the ABC team for working day in and day out for the children and families, and the families for trusting us with their children, we are all one family here at ABC,” stated Dr. Al Ali.
ABC is a centre that provides evidence based early intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD).
The children receive individualized programs in a one to one setting, led by a professional team.
The centre is committed to its mission  to provide every child with ASD with the tools to unlock their potential and become independent children and adults.

Parents Training Classses

ABC of Kuwait will be running Parent Training classes in both Arabic and English, starting in February 2017, teaching the principles of ABA as well as practical applications for you to use with your child at home or when you are out and about, whether at the mall or visiting family and friends. Please contact our new Family Liaison Officer, Ms Fay Altherban on 6502-6155 or email faltherban@abckuwait.com for more information and dates.

World Autism Awareness Day

Halawa AutismWorld Autism Awareness Day is held annually on 2nd April, and is one of only four official health-specific UN Days. The day itself brings individual autism organizations together all around the world to aid in things like research, diagnoses, treatment, and overall awareness for those with the disorder and looking for help.

There will be events occurring in Kuwait throughout the month of April 2016, and we will be hosting the ABC Annual Autism Funfair on 9th April – all are welcome, we would love to see you, and our aim is to share information about autism in general and also provide useful information about the services available to children with autism in Kuwait. We will also be presenting a lecture in Shaheed Park entitled “What’s Next?” on Thursday, 14th April, which will give helpful guidance about what to look out for if you have concerns that your child may have developmental delays, could possibly be showing signs of autism, and what to do if your child is diagnosed with autism.

Please join us, share the day with us, gain understanding and knowledge, and help us raise awareness of an issue which profoundly affects the lives of thousands of Kuwait families, who struggle daily to find the support, understanding, services and help that they need.

Learning is Fun at ABC

Every month our enrolled children are taken on an outing, where they can practice their skills in a fun environment. It is important for children on an ABA programme to generalise what they are learning across different settings, so our regular trips and outings are an enjoyable and valuable learning experience for them.

We have recently had outings to the Zoo and Sharq and Fintas parks, the Al-Kharafi Kids Activity Centre, Marina Crescent playground, Winterland in Mishref, and Kidzania. We have plans this month for a supermarket visit and picnic, and visits to Colour Me Mine.

In the centre we put on regular events, such as our National & Liberation Day celebrations, annual Fun Day, costume parties, and food festival. Parents are invited to join us for these events, and much enjoyment is shared by everyone together – staff, children and families.

Here are some photos of some recent events (please note that we protect the confidentiality of our clients, so no photos can identify our enrolled children):

Working is Fun at ABC

Without our amazingly talented, dedicated and hardworking staff ABC would not exist, so it is important for us to foster an atmosphere in which our employees feel highly valued and a part of a strong, cohesive working culture where their efforts are rewarded and appreciated. Staff events are one of the ways we strive to achieve that, and we arrange informal get-togethers as well as more formal events to celebrate and recognise the work that they all do and the commitment they give every day to the children and families we work with.

We hold our annual End of Year Party every year at the end of term in December – in 2015 we all enjoyed a fabulous evening at the very beautiful C-Club, which included a fun awards ceremony with presentations to all our staff…and not to forget the delicious buffet supper enjoyed afterwards at their exclusive beach front location.
